Maurice Murphy

It’s with great sadness that we post this message. We learned this weekend that our great friend Maurice Murphy has passed. Maurice was a member of the Munster Squash committee for many years and spent some time as the Junior Secretary, during his time on the committee Maurice made a massive contribution, he was always a great sounding board, always someone when he spoke you listened to what he had to say. Maurice was a great example to us and he was always someone you always respected and looked to for guidance.

Maurice was a member of the An Garda Síochána and lived in Thurles and raised his family with Ann Marie. He spent many happy days in Thurles Squash-Club with his daughter Ava. Maurice was always an encouraging parent, traveling to many tournaments down the years with Ave as she played for Munster and then Ireland representing Irish Squash

Maurice will be missed by everyone at Munster Squash, but he was a family man first and foremost, he will be sorely missed by his wife Ann-Marie and his daughters Sorcha, Chloe, and Ava, and his extended family.
