Friday 26th of January. Congratulations to HighfieldSquash Cork on winning the Munster Squash Division 5 – it was a very close encounter played in Thurles Squash-Club. A special mention to the Highfield Academy, great work going on there, and evidence is Leah Connelly playing on this winning side. The final was posed at 2 all going into the final game only for Alan Vaughan to step up and seal it for Highfield beating John Spillane 3-0 in the final match!
Well done to Nenagh Squash Club for fighting hard all the way through the league, well-done lads.
Thanks must also go to Ennis CBS Squash Club and ‘Gleneagle Squash Club for making this an enjoyable league, great reports coming back to Munster Squash of great hospitality, great banter, and above all great sportsmanship and respect among players in all clubs on all teams.
Thanks also to Gerry Connaghton and Thurles Squash-Club for hosting the final and making the final night arrangements.
Lastly, thank you to all the Captains who do all the hard work week in and week out managing players and fixtures, thanks, lads.
Wednesday, 24th January. We have a winner, congratulations to Celtic Squash Club who won the Munster Squash Division 1 league tonight with a total of 121 points, with one week of fixtures to complain the runner still has to be decided. This league has been a long road for all teams with 4 home and 4 away. Kevin Knox, Kevin White, and Eoin Fanning (missing from the photo) also played on the team. The Photo below sees Captain Mark Furlong pick up the trophy, along with Jamie Walker Brian, and Aaron Knox.
The Munster Squash League is open for entries for Division 2, Division 4, and Division 6 – all entries are via SportyHQ (Link below)
The start date is mid-February and depending on team numbers, the plan is to run each division as a league to maximize games but in some cases, we will use groups.
The leagues are a great way to play an extra competitive game mid-week, Division 2 (Tues Night) Division 4 (Wed Night), and Division 6 (Thurs Night)
